Career Highlights
L. Leland "Skip" Whitney, a native of San Francisco, founded Whitney Cressman Limited in 1974, a real estate advisory service focusing on both commercial leasing and domestic and international commercial investment sales. He is also the founder of Whitney Cressman International which is currently involved in retail real estate development activities in Taiwan and Southeast Asia. In 2006, GVA Whitney Cressman merged with GVA Kidder Mathews and he is a Principal with the firm.
Over the course of Mr. Whitney’s career, he has been involved in over a billion dollars worth of real estate transactions. He has consistently been successful in acquiring and disposing of commercial and investment properties on behalf of his clients throughout the United States, the Pacific Rim as well as Southeast Asia.
Mr. Whitney has been traveling to Asia for over 33 years. He is considered one of the pioneers in East/West business relationships, in the field of real estate activities, having represented some of the largest families and companies in the Asian market place.
In addition, Mr. Whitney was the co-founder of the Singapore International Film Festival in 1987 and sat on the Board of Directors at the Mill Valley Film Festival for seven years and also founded the Film Institute of Northern California Fundraising Guild. He is a regular guest lecturer at the USC Institute for the International Real Estate Study Program and a member of the USC Lusk Center for Real Estate. Mr. Whitney also sits on the Board for Operation USA, one of the largest non profit medical relief programs in the U.S. and is a Director of Operation Landmine.
