Monroe (Mike) Townsend has more than 25 years experience in the development and disposition of commercial and residential properties. He is a key member of Kidder Mathews' Troubled Asset Practice.
Over the years, Mike has been a real estate development partner with Hathaway Dinwiddie Construction Company in San Francisco having successfully competed for and executed real estate development projects sponsored by local and state governments in California, and he has been their design/build partner on the winning design of the 800,000 square foot, 27-story, Harris State Office Building in Oakland. In addition, Mike has:
Successfully developed and sold three major office and retail developments totaling 1.25 million square feet as the commercial real estate manager Northern California for Ahmanson Commercial Development Company; a wholly-owned subsidiary of Home Savings of America, then the largest and most profitable savings and loan in the U.S.;
Partnered with two other individuals consulting for banks and other institutions with underperforming REO portfolios in California and other western states to reposition and build value in the properties prior to sale;
Performed as managing consultant to the owner of a large commercial property in Oakland, in the investment portfolio of CBRE Investors, LLC, wherein the property was successfully positioned in the market and sold returning a significant profit to CBRE and the Delta Airlines and Eastman Kodak pension funds;
Performed as managing principal of a luxury condominium development in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico designed by the world-class architect, Michael Graves;
Served as an expert witness in design and construction legal proceedings in California.
