Joe Malaspino, FMA®, RPA®
Director of Engineering and Sustainability
Joe Malaspino joined Kidder Mathews as director of engineering in 2014. Joe leads, coordinates, and manages all aspects of Kidder Mathews’ building engineering program. Joe has direct responsibility for day-to-day management of the engineering program, including hiring, developing, directing, and motivating technical personnel, oversight of the building engineering safety and training program, providing technical resources, and identifying and developing new business opportunities in the engineering and facilities management business line. Joe also coordinates and facilitates Kidder Mathews’ sustainability practice.
Prior to joining Kidder Mathews, Joe was a general manager for Transwestern, where he developed and implemented preventive maintenance and service procedures, and created annual operating and capital budgets for 900,000 square feet of class A office buildings. Prior to his tenure with Transwestern, Joe spent ten years with CB Richard Ellis in a variety of roles including chief engineer, senior real estate manager, and general manager. During this time at CB Richard Ellis, Joe worked directly with the client’s development and asset management teams in the design, construction, and operations of over 2 million square feet of high profile office / retail properties in South Lake Union.
Joe is an experienced problem solver with excellent analytical, written, and verbal skills. He holds both the FMA® (Facilities Management Administrator) and RPA® (Real Property Administrator) designations through BOMA (Building Owners and Managers Association). Joe has earned several professional awards including an Ambassador Award, BOMA’s Principle Member of the Year, and an Asset Services Real Estate Manager of the Year Award. Joe serves on a number of industry related committees, including serving as chair to the King County BOMA Code and Utility Committee, he is also an active member of the city of Seattle Construction Codes Advisory Board, representing the commercial building owners and operators.
Associate of Applied Science Degree in HVAC Technology from North Seattle Community College.
