SEATTLE -San Francisco-based industrial developer Prologis has filed plans with the city to build a four-story warehouse, manufacturing and research building at 646 S. Holgate St. in Sodo.
The 196,500-square-foot project would have parking 112 vehicles.
Prologis is responding to a need for warehouse space in Seattle, but differentiating itself by building vertically.
The company applied for a permit in 2014 to build a pair of two-story warehouses at 6050 E. Marginal Way S. in Georgetown. Prologis has since revised its application to add a story to each of the structures, increasing the size of the project by nearly 50 percent, from 540,500 square feet to 801,900 square feet.
Matt Wood, a partner a Kidder Mathews told the DJC last year that multistory warehouses could become more common here.
"It's a very expensive option, so you only do it when you're land constrained," he said.
