Retail space topped real estate investors list of the most sought-after properties in Pierce County last year and with a Chinese developer's $135 million proposition for a U-Village type space in Tacoma, that trend could continue into 2016.

The Puget Sound Business Journal's List of the Top 25 Real Estate Deals in Pierce County spotlights more than $224 million in deals for retail space - out of a total of $789.5 million for the county.

The largest deal of the year, however, went to The Fairways, a multifamily apartment complex at 4602 45th Ave. N.W. in Tacoma. The property sold for $81 million on Oct. 30.

How did the deals stack up?

1. The Fairways, Tacoma, $81 million
2. 1416 Lake Tapps Parkway, Auburn, $60.21 million
3. Mid-Valley Resources, Eatonville, $51.7 million
4. ORM Timber, Graham, $47.88 million
5. Sumner Distribution Center, Sumner, $41.73 million

The List ranked deals by sale price with information from Kidder Mathews, First American Title and Insurance Co. and public documents.
