Top Pot Doughnuts to open first shop in Tacoma

Business Examiner

Slated to open in late 2015, the doughnut shop will become part of the under-construction Proctor Station (2724 North Proctor Street). For those who haven't been to the Seattle-based chain, it will offer fresh roasted coffee, doughnuts, pastries and sandwiches.

"Opening a Top Pot Doughnuts and Coffee cafe in Tacoma is incredibly special to me," said Top Pot Doughnut cofounder Mark Klebeck. "South Tacoma is where my family grew up. It's a great homecoming of sorts and we can't wait to introduce our Tacoma family and friends to the doughnuts and coffee that have become famous throughout the United States."

It will be the chain's first shop in Pierce County. Jeff Kraft, vice president at Kidder Mathews, said it's a deal that has been in the making for a couple of years now.

"I think they're going to raise the bar from your typical coffeehouse drive-in that most of us in Pierce County are used to," he said.
