SEATTLE - A full block in the heart of the Central District is up for sale for the first time in 70 years.
The property, called MidTown Center, is on the southeast corner of East Union Street and 23rd Avenue. It has five structures, including a liquor store and a post office.
The site is being marketed by Jason Rosauer and Rob Anderson of Kidder Mathews.
Owner Tom Bangasser sought to upzone the property in 2013 to allow 65-foot building heights, but the city denied the request, saying it wanted to see a specific proposal first.
Developers have been active in the neighborhood lately. Lake Union Partners has three mixed-use projects in the works on surrounding blocks, with about 280 apartment units.
Capitol Hill Housing proposes to add 80 to 90 units at 24th and Union.
