More than 1,200 people packed into Safeco Field tonight to honor the 85 companies that were named 2014 Washington's Best Workplaces finalists earlier this year and find out who employees said were the top companies in the state.

Puget Sound Business Journal Publisher Gordon Prouty noted that this is the eighth year for the Washington's Best Workplaces Awards and that four companies - Columbia Bank, real estate brokerage Kidder Mathews, law firm Lane Powell and Tangerine Travel - have all been recognized as best places to work each of those eight years, making them part of the Best Workplaces Hall of Fame.

He then, along with Business Journal columnist Patti Payne, presented awards to all of the finalist companies before announcing the big award winners.

Quantum Workplaces surveyed more than 31,000 employees at more than 250 nominated companies with Washington offices about such things as job satisfaction, senior leadership, communication, training and benefits. The 25 small (10 to 50 employees), 25 medium (51 to 150 employees), 25 large (151 to 500 employees) and 10 extra-large (500-plus) companies that received the highest scores among their honorees became finalists.

Click on the slideshow to the right to see which companies knocked it out of the ballpark with employees to earn the very highest scores and win the PSBJ 2014 Washington Best Workplaces Gold, Silver and Bronze Awards.
